Edutel Higher Education
is excited to announce
that a new education qualification has been added to
our list of academic programmes. This cost-effective
Bachelor of Education degree equips students
who meet the admission requirements to study
from home and become fully qualified Foundation
Phase teachers (Grade R to 3).
The BEd (Foundation Phase Teaching) degree is de-
livered through blended, distance learning, allowing
students who live in all areas of South Africa, includ-
ing areas where they do not have easy access to con-
tact institutions to study full-time or part-time, to be-
come fully qualified teachers.
The degree is presented at NQF level 7, with
minimum total credits of 500, earned over a mini-
mum of four years. The qualification is approved
and recognised by the Department of Higher Edu-
cation and Training (DHET) as an initial teaching
qualification for employment in education and is
evaluated as REQV 14.

Grade R Teaching. This means that such stu-
dents can complete the BEd (Foundation Phase
Teaching) in a shorter period of time.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone in
South Africa and the world at large therefore, this
qualification is presented online using Edutel Online,
an App that may be accessed from any device (cell
phone, tablet or computer etc) at anytime and any-
where.
All learning guides are provided to students in hard
copy as well as online in e-book format. This means
that no additional textbooks or study materials have to
be purchased. Using Edutel Online, students will sub-
mit assignments online and write examinations online
so students do not have to travel to any specific ex-
amination centres.
Students will also be able to use Edutel Online to
communicate with Edutel and within designated study
groups to assist them in successfully completing their
qualification.
